A couple of weeks ago I read about a new exhibition in the Deichtorhallen – one of Hamburgs many Museums – which sounded very interesting to me. Surprisingly it was also announced to be free of charge as it was an elaborately staged installation.
The British artist Antony Gormley came up with the idea of a platform hanging from the ceiling of the exhibition hall. It was accessable for visitors via steel framework stairs from which people had to step down onto the disconnected platform.
It’s surface was coated with PU resin – it was so reflective, it made you feel like walking on water.
Any movement on the platform made your body vibrate – it was a memorable experience.
If you are around, go there and give it a shot, it’s definitely worth it!
